Frequently Asked Questions
Questions Before you buy
Q: Do you have a certain song or cd?
A: Please check the over 200+ songs we include. We try to add songs to our library as opportunities come up but unfortunately can't buy songs on request. If you're willing to pay around £10 for us to include a cd you want, Karaoke cd's usually run £5-£10 . We can charge our clients 75% of the overall cost (ie: a £7 cd with £3 shipping costs £10 and we would charge £7.50).
Q: Do you have any availability on a certain day?
A: Please check our calendar for our machine availabilities. We offer the option to keep the machine for 3 days and many clients return the machine sooner if it's more convenient for them.
Q: What time do you usually do pickups/dropoffs?
A: We can drop off/collect the machine at the following stations after 6:30 on weekdays, and almost any time on weekends. West Hampstead & Kilburn Tube Stations, West Hampstead and Brondesbury Rail Stations, West Hampstead Thameslink Station. We've also had clients pay for a minicab to take the karaoke machine to/from West Hampstead. This can be set up by either us or the client.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Have a look at our pricing and a brief explanation on how our hire service works.
Using the Karaoke Machine
Q: What do I do if the monitor keeps flickering or I can't see/read the words?
A: Make sure the "monitor" switch at the front of the machine is switched to ON and the "function" switch is set to CDG. Then there is a knob at the back of the machine called BRIGHT, make sure that is turned so that you can see light coming from the screen. Afterwords while a cd is playing, adjust the VHOLD at the back of the machine which controls the monitor flickering, adjust this until flickering stops.
Q: The words have frozen but the song keeps playing, what do I do?
A: This happens when the cd is smudged, sometimes after some time it fixes itself. If this does not happen, our advice is to try and clean the cd using the cleaner provided. If that is not working, you can hold down 'skip forward' to fast forward through the part that freezes, or skip the song. In either case please try and remember the song and let us know so we can either fix it or replace the cd (you will not be charged in either case, we only consider charging for very obvious scratches).
Q: The microphone isn't loud enough, what do I do?
A: The microphone should be very loud, to convince yourself make sure a cd isn't playing, turn the Master and Microphone Volume knobs up, and speak into the microphone. The music volume plays at the same volume as the Master volume. Use the Auto Voice Control knob to make it so that when you sing your voice projects over the music. Finally if it's an issue of singing into the mic, cup your hand over the sides of the microphone and sing into the cup. Your hand should create a funnel between your mouth and the mic which greatly amplifies the sound carrying through to the microphone.
Q: The cd is skipping or the lyrics are pixilated.
A: The joy of going back to cd's, our kit provides a cd cleaner. Or you can take a clean paper towel and wipe off any dirt or smudges starting from the center of the cd stroking outwards. If you have the time, make a note of what cd had issues so we can check it out and replace if necessary.
Please consult the STVG-513 instruction manual on our website on how to use the karaoke machine, this will have all the detail we can provide.
